South of the border

I always wanted to make tamales, I found a cool website to take me step by step and it is a two day process. Worth the effort through and through. Day one is the meat cooking and what better way to cook and shred meat to, than listening to Further 3/12/2011 New York with the Clashs Train In Vain.
Now I got a job

Day two is the assembly process, spread gooey mesa and fill with pork and chicken and roll a way the dew. I thought the recipe was for 4 dozen, I ended with about 90. That's OK cause they freezer real nice. What better way to roll up a pot of fat ones than to listen to The Grateful Dead 10/26/1989 in Miami. Oh my second set is as gooey as the mesa. Dark Star was way way out there.

I also made a couple of gallons of shrimp-scallop bisque, and a tomato and black bean salad. The bisque will also freeze well for some easy summer dinners. Whats this? All along the watchtower?

There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.



The finish product was delightfull, the bisque was spicy, the salad was cold, and the tamales of corse were hot, hot, hot.
For dinner we listened to Jerry Garcia Band 3-12-83 Beverly Hills.

All in all everyone was full and happy I spent the day in the kitchen.

Memorial Day 2011

Everyone take a few moments tomorrow and give thanks to all the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This is just not lip service, this comes from the bottom of my heart. I hear it day and night that the government is screwing us and taking all our money and we are being invaded by illegals. This may or may not be true, but we do live in the best country in the world. Get out and explore a new place that you have never been to, a place you always wanted to see, and see for yourself how lucky we are to live in the USA. For those who constantly tell me how were suckers and keep taking it from the man, then move. I'll even help ya pack.

Furthur In Florida

Further played the last two shows of the spring tour in Florida. We were looking forward to see them again and to run into a lot of Florida heads we have made friends with over the years.
Tuesday started off with tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm alerts, by the time they got here it was a breezy shower. We can use a whole lot more rain than what we received, maybe next time.
Ana and I stopped at Aloha Cafe in Stuart and had a couple of killer pulled piggy salads and headed to Orlando. Aloha Cafe is on Bryant street and has killer, killer, and more killer food. I will write more about that real soon.



We arrived in Orlando at 4:30 and was being directed all around Central Florida University by security the finally parked us in a odd out of the way field, within 30 minuets it became Shakedown Street. When you park in SS it is known your not getting out right after the show. We set up camp and got a few cold beverages and hooked up with a bunch of cool stickers. Met a couple of characters and ran into Big John, always a pleasure to see Big John and I always like to mingle with people six to eight inches taller than me. We have hung with John at all central Florida shows for over 15 years. Good friend good times.

Great loud fun show, Jeff on the keyboards showed everyone up tonight, he is a madman some nights and tonight it was 110% from start to finish for him.

Second set melts you, I guess dude man was right when he asked what time does the band start playing, I told him at 7:30. He said no they start around 10. Boy was he on key for that.
Like I said before Shakedown Street is not an area everyone is comfortable with. Fireworks, parting, naked guy, and other oddities about. We did meet a cool older guy with a terrible head cold who gifted us with 3/12/2011 show from New York. It is the show dedicated to the Bear, It was a great listen on the way home and we thank him from the bottom of our hearts. Campus police helped clear the lot and we finally had room to pull out. I was ready for a shower and get to bed. I layed my head down at 4:55am. Ouch.




I slept till 8am and had to go to work for a few hours, and it was a little rough, but I'm a pro and it was nothing too hard. I got home and took a shower and we were back in the van heading to Boca Raton (Mouth Of The Rat) at 4:30. We arived and had just enough time to say hi to a bunch of local heads we know and dip into the new Mizner park theater. It was PACKED by showtime and it is the only outdoor show of the tour, Crowd roars and they hit the stage.

This was a fun show, last night of tour, outdoors and a big ole sing along. Not my favorite kind of show, but I will take what I can get and it was still fun. I like the far out melt your face psychedelic sound like Tuesday, that's why I always look forward to the next one.

Hold My Calls, I'll Be In A Meeting With Mister Charlie

Ever since we moved the office Mr.Charlie has taken up full time residency there. He has his Air Force One Presidential blanket with him at all times. My have to put him on the payroll soon if he keeps putting in the hours he has.
I'll let everyone in on a secret, he would work on the cheap, probably a couple of Pup-a-ronis a week or a cow ear or two.



Spring has been very kind to us this year. Perfect temps, dry air and chilly nights for a very extended time. I have a feeling that is going to change soon and it will be drastic. So what am I saying? If you need it cleaned, checked, fixed or whatever......let's get it on.

Let' Melt Some Snow

We arrived in Boston on Friday the 4th and it was 22 degrees and windy.
WOW bundle up boys and girls it's gonna be chilly. We checked into a seriously cool hotel The Parker Omni it is the oldest countinuasly running hotel in America and it was a block away from the Orpheum Theater.
Let's see if the band can warm us up tonight?

E: The Golden Road To Unlimited Devotion

A very good solid played show for the first night of the tour. A slight sound control and a little choppy in the first set, but they squared all that away and took us to the next level on the second set.

We were tired from the day of flying and wandering around Boston, we stopped at Barracudas had a snack and a cold Blue Moon micro brew from Colorado and went off to snoozeville, dreaming of tomorrow.




We got up early to check out Boston and we had our sights set on Mike's Pastry's in North End. Boston is not a large sprawling city, it is very friendly to walk and a lot of sights to see. The tempeture warmed up very nice and were expecting highs to hit 70.
Not too shabby.
North End is the Italian part of the city with a ton of gooood smelling resturaunts, we spent a good part of the day checking out open air markets, street performers, walking the Freedom Trail (the British are comming) and eating our way from block to block.
We got to Mike's and it did not disappoint at all.
PISTACCIO MACCAROONS ARE THE BOMB DIGGITY DOG!!!

Went back to the room and showered and I decided to wear my usual concert attire.
Bathing suit, T-shirt, and a bandanna. It was 67 degrees at show time and inside a 176 year old Theater there is no ventallation.
I don't think Bostonians see many shorts, they kept touching them and telling me I'm a few miles from the beach. Oh well time to get our game on.

This show was the real deal, blew our socks off and kept on delivering. The balcony seat were literally swinging, a few times I thought it was going to tumble. The temps indoors on the second set was at least 100 degrees and everyone was sweaty, I'm so glad I had my bathing suit on. The crowd was electric spilling into Boston Common Park. Hootin' and a hollerin' for some time. Ana and I made our way to Barracudas had a snack and and a cold Blue Moon and skipped to our room.
Good times, yea real good times, fell asleep with King Solomon's Marbles dancing in my head.



Sunday morning we didn't jump out of bead as early but were were out by 10am and we decided to go back to Mike's and get some snacks to take home to the boy's. We stopped at Freedom Hall and checked out a lot of different archetectre, Boston is a real cool old city. Odd shaped buildings with hand carved wood and stone is the norm.
The temps again were tickling 70 and it was an overcast day with rain on the horizon. Hope it stays dry till show time.
It does and we head on over, in my swim suit.

Boston was blessed with three great nights of music, we stepped outside and it was raining pretty hard, we skipped and danced to Barracudas for a snack and a couple of cold Blue Moons. The night was the end of our stay, we packed our stuff and slept for a few hours before our flight home.
Great food.
Great Music.
Great City.
Great times.



The flight was nice the plane was not full, I dozed in and out and we got home before the kids got home from school. They were stoked on the goodies from Mike's.
Even with such a fun adventure it is always good to be back home.

Looking forward to a few Florida dates in April.
