He Came, He Ate, Now He Leaves
Here is the boy in New Mexico showing me some sort of dub step move. A front moved through and the sun was setting and the wind was gusting. Very very cold that afternoon. We were heading to Texas to a school visit then home.
Ted visited a handful of schools. He had many different offers from many different sized schools all over the country.
During the visits he was treated like a king and was giving many little "goodies". One school actually made some cookies with his name on it. That school in Texas was real close with the big cookie but was just a little short.
The other schools did not hold back either. All the schools fed him (multiple times) and they all flew him across the country. They brought out all the coaching staff too. One school literally had 9 coaches talk, meet and eat with him. They all took him out to see the town at night with established players on the teams. One school also had a coach come to our house for in a in home visit.
It's nice to be "wanted" and not just an "opening" we found for you, two schools had Ted at the #1 pick on their recruiting board.
He chose Fort Hays State University in Hays Kansas.
As a bird flies he will be 60 miles from the dead center of the United States.
He chose this school due to the experience of the coaching staff, proximity of food/bars from the campus, the amount of students, and he feels this will be his best opportunity to run for a Natty. They want him as their right tackle. He likes that.
He leaves tomorrow (Friday) and needs to be there on Sunday/Monday to settle in his new apartment and be ready for classes on Tuesday. He chose his major as communications. The ride is 2,000 miles and 24 hours. He is taking this journey solo. Mom isn't to pumped on this choice but by the time I was 21 I already drove the east coast 4 or 5 times and went to the west coast twice by myself, he'll be fine. At his size I will not fear he would be kidnapped.
The car has been tuned up and ready to go. Bags are packed too. I filled his pocket with some cash and a pat on the back. Time to finish your education with a bachelors degree and as always it's time to ball yall.
Stay safe and warm son,
Tim
