Can't think of a better way to end the beautiful winter day in central/south Florida with a fluffy and soft sunset. We had a couple of cloudy and rainy days (we needed them desperately) and a sunset like this only means tomorrow will be clear and sunny. This is why we love to live in Florida

What's this Jada sleeping in her new favorite spot? It sure is, can't think of a better way to "recycle" an old air handler than sleep in it. When I was a young and wild young man I do recall drinking a little to much on a Sunday and instead of driving drunk I stayed at work and slept on a bed of insulation. I still itch when I think of that. I'd like to type good times, but it wasn't really.

A couple of the neighborhood kids call me The Sunset Guy and get a chuckle out of it. One day they will see. It's all good.

Winter in Florida

Find a good day to fish the beach.
Clean water, some current, not too hot, and a little spare time.

Step 2

Catch and clean a couple of sweet Pompano.

Step 3

BBQ and enjoy!

The weather has been perfect and no one is using much a/c or heat. The pompano have been biting on a regular schedule. I wonder If I can pay some bills with a fish swap.

If you need an a/c replaced or new ductwork done, this IS THE TIME for your best savings of the year.

Ted my youngest (14) is on a traveling lacrosse team. He LOVES it. First off he is a huge kid, he is over 6 feet and around 225 pounds. When he played football he always had to play with kids his own size and they were usually 2 to 4 years older. Physically they matched up but mentally at that age their is a big difference, don't get me wrong he played very well and kept pace were needed. We never feared for his safety or any other issues, it was what it was and we all had a good time.
Lacrosse is different, there is no size or weight limits, it's all about the age. He towers over a lot of players and lacrosse IS a physical game. I never had it as a Florida boy growing up so I am unfamiliar with a lot of it, but we all like it.

Secondly, it is a travel team. Last weekend took us to Charlotte, North Carolina. We got in town just as a strong cold front was making it's way into town and we enjoyed some cold and frosty mornings. I think it made our boy's play even better. When we go on these trips we have dubbed it "It's all about Teddy weekends".
What this mean is Sam is at left behind covering the home front and the zoo of pets and Ted chooses everything (well almost).
He picks what we will eat, where we stay, times for arrivals and departures, and what extra activities we do. We all get a kick out of this and it all has worked out rather well.

The tournament went very well for us considering the first one was last April in Parkland and I believe the team went 1 and 4.
The team has improved immensely over the last 6 months. They won 4 games and was the #1 seed going into the playoffs but they got beat by a very good team from Atlanta.
They took the loss kinda hard.

Our next and last tournament for this team will be in 2 weeks outside of Tampa and we will look forward to another Teddy weekend. Good luck Blue Devils it's been a fun and very educational year. I know you will all do fine.

A Very Sad Day

Jim Karpinski was the best at what he did and he did it like no other.
He taught me that if you are to do a job, you do it once and you do it right or you might as well stay home, sit on your ass and get out of his way.

He would get up every morning at God knows what time and get breakfast at Jupiter's IHOP, go to the shop, cut all the duct we needed for the day, load up all the equipment, make a material list for the next job, drink 15 coffees and be pacing back and forth waiting for me to show up at 6:50am.

You would get in the work truck and he would drive like a bat out of hell to grab another 24oz coffee and get to our job. Most people at this time would stretch their legs and get warmed up for the day, not Jimmy he was out and going and would not stop till the job was done or when it was time to go home.

Jimmy never cut a corner or try to "rig" something. It was done strong, right and up to code. ALWAYS.

Jim was a one of a kind, his beard was 2 foot long and his hair just as long. I never saw him without a bandanna.
He used to take his dog into Denny's for breakfast on Sundays and when they would not let him bring the dog in he would buy a breakfast for the dog and bring it out to her to eat and bring the plate back in.
He was one of the best cursers I have ever met, he could put a string of profanity together that was like a symphony orchestra, even people who did not swear would get a chuckle out of the variety and way it would come from his mouth, it was music to my ears.
Never ever cared what people thought of him. He was a true free spirit and a true hippy. That was his nickname and that is what most people knew him as. "The Hippy"

Hippy passed away last night in his sleep, I have not seen him in 7 or 8 years now and I will miss him dearly. He was a very, very special man. Rest in peace brother, rest in peace.

Summer is here, heat and rain with humidity so thick ya can drink it.
It's my time, human comfort time, time to chill.

I have been to hundreds of concerts, I always saved my stubs, one day I'll count them but till then I am posting one of my favorites of all time.
The Grateful Dead Miami October 26, 1989.
Last night of an incredible tour, I started in Hampton and caught one of two nights as "The Warlocks" I had to high tail it back to Florida to drop off Paul, but caught back up for 2 of 3 in The Spectrum in Philly, both nights in Charlotte and headed down to Miami for the last two nights.
This show was awesome from start to finish with the second set totally off the charts.

So if you are dare to go back with me down memory lane, give it a spin.

I always wanted to make tamales, I found a cool website to take me step by step and it is a two day process. Worth the effort through and through. Day one is the meat cooking and what better way to cook and shred meat to, than listening to Further 3/12/2011 New York with the Clashs Train In Vain.

Day two is the assembly process, spread gooey mesa and fill with pork and chicken and roll a way the dew. I thought the recipe was for 4 dozen, I ended with about 90. That's OK cause they freezer real nice. What better way to roll up a pot of fat ones than to listen to The Grateful Dead 10/26/1989 in Miami. Oh my second set is as gooey as the mesa. Dark Star was way way out there.

I also made a couple of gallons of shrimp-scallop bisque, and a tomato and black bean salad. The bisque will also freeze well for some easy summer dinners. Whats this? All along the watchtower?

There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.

The finish product was delightfull, the bisque was spicy, the salad was cold, and the tamales of corse were hot, hot, hot.
For dinner we listened to Jerry Garcia Band 3-12-83 Beverly Hills.

Everyone take a few moments tomorrow and give thanks to all the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This is just not lip service, this comes from the bottom of my heart. I hear it day and night that the government is screwing us and taking all our money and we are being invaded by illegals. This may or may not be true, but we do live in the best country in the world. Get out and explore a new place that you have never been to, a place you always wanted to see, and see for yourself how lucky we are to live in the USA. For those who constantly tell me how were suckers and keep taking it from the man, then move. I'll even help ya pack.

Furthur In Florida

Further played the last two shows of the spring tour in Florida. We were looking forward to see them again and to run into a lot of Florida heads we have made friends with over the years.
Tuesday started off with tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm alerts, by the time they got here it was a breezy shower. We can use a whole lot more rain than what we received, maybe next time.
Ana and I stopped at Aloha Cafe in Stuart and had a couple of killer pulled piggy salads and headed to Orlando. Aloha Cafe is on Bryant street and has killer, killer, and more killer food. I will write more about that real soon.

We arrived in Orlando at 4:30 and was being directed all around Central Florida University by security the finally parked us in a odd out of the way field, within 30 minuets it became Shakedown Street. When you park in SS it is known your not getting out right after the show. We set up camp and got a few cold beverages and hooked up with a bunch of cool stickers. Met a couple of characters and ran into Big John, always a pleasure to see Big John and I always like to mingle with people six to eight inches taller than me. We have hung with John at all central Florida shows for over 15 years. Good friend good times.

Great loud fun show, Jeff on the keyboards showed everyone up tonight, he is a madman some nights and tonight it was 110% from start to finish for him.

Second set melts you, I guess dude man was right when he asked what time does the band start playing, I told him at 7:30. He said no they start around 10. Boy was he on key for that.
Like I said before Shakedown Street is not an area everyone is comfortable with. Fireworks, parting, naked guy, and other oddities about. We did meet a cool older guy with a terrible head cold who gifted us with 3/12/2011 show from New York. It is the show dedicated to the Bear, It was a great listen on the way home and we thank him from the bottom of our hearts. Campus police helped clear the lot and we finally had room to pull out. I was ready for a shower and get to bed. I layed my head down at 4:55am. Ouch.

I slept till 8am and had to go to work for a few hours, and it was a little rough, but I'm a pro and it was nothing too hard. I got home and took a shower and we were back in the van heading to Boca Raton (Mouth Of The Rat) at 4:30. We arived and had just enough time to say hi to a bunch of local heads we know and dip into the new Mizner park theater. It was PACKED by showtime and it is the only outdoor show of the tour, Crowd roars and they hit the stage.

Ever since we moved the office Mr.Charlie has taken up full time residency there. He has his Air Force One Presidential blanket with him at all times. My have to put him on the payroll soon if he keeps putting in the hours he has.
I'll let everyone in on a secret, he would work on the cheap, probably a couple of Pup-a-ronis a week or a cow ear or two.

Spring has been very kind to us this year. Perfect temps, dry air and chilly nights for a very extended time. I have a feeling that is going to change soon and it will be drastic. So what am I saying? If you need it cleaned, checked, fixed or whatever......let's get it on.

We arrived in Boston on Friday the 4th and it was 22 degrees and windy.
WOW bundle up boys and girls it's gonna be chilly. We checked into a seriously cool hotel The Parker Omni it is the oldest countinuasly running hotel in America and it was a block away from the Orpheum Theater.

A very good solid played show for the first night of the tour. A slight sound control and a little choppy in the first set, but they squared all that away and took us to the next level on the second set.

We were tired from the day of flying and wandering around Boston, we stopped at Barracudas had a snack and a cold Blue Moon micro brew from Colorado and went off to snoozeville, dreaming of tomorrow.

We got up early to check out Boston and we had our sights set on Mike's Pastry's in North End. Boston is not a large sprawling city, it is very friendly to walk and a lot of sights to see. The tempeture warmed up very nice and were expecting highs to hit 70.
Not too shabby.
North End is the Italian part of the city with a ton of gooood smelling resturaunts, we spent a good part of the day checking out open air markets, street performers, walking the Freedom Trail (the British are comming) and eating our way from block to block.
We got to Mike's and it did not disappoint at all.
PISTACCIO MACCAROONS ARE THE BOMB DIGGITY DOG!!!

Went back to the room and showered and I decided to wear my usual concert attire.
Bathing suit, T-shirt, and a bandanna. It was 67 degrees at show time and inside a 176 year old Theater there is no ventallation.
I don't think Bostonians see many shorts, they kept touching them and telling me I'm a few miles from the beach. Oh well time to get our game on.

This show was the real deal, blew our socks off and kept on delivering. The balcony seat were literally swinging, a few times I thought it was going to tumble. The temps indoors on the second set was at least 100 degrees and everyone was sweaty, I'm so glad I had my bathing suit on. The crowd was electric spilling into Boston Common Park. Hootin' and a hollerin' for some time. Ana and I made our way to Barracudas had a snack and and a cold Blue Moon and skipped to our room.
Good times, yea real good times, fell asleep with King Solomon's Marbles dancing in my head.

Sunday morning we didn't jump out of bead as early but were were out by 10am and we decided to go back to Mike's and get some snacks to take home to the boy's. We stopped at Freedom Hall and checked out a lot of different archetectre, Boston is a real cool old city. Odd shaped buildings with hand carved wood and stone is the norm.
The temps again were tickling 70 and it was an overcast day with rain on the horizon. Hope it stays dry till show time.
It does and we head on over, in my swim suit.

Boston was blessed with three great nights of music, we stepped outside and it was raining pretty hard, we skipped and danced to Barracudas for a snack and a couple of cold Blue Moons. The night was the end of our stay, we packed our stuff and slept for a few hours before our flight home.
Great food.
Great Music.
Great City.
Great times.

The flight was nice the plane was not full, I dozed in and out and we got home before the kids got home from school. They were stoked on the goodies from Mike's.
Even with such a fun adventure it is always good to be back home.

Looking forward to a few Florida dates in April.

The weather has been absolutely perfect. If it stayed like this year round there would be no Grateful Air Conditioning.
There would be a Grateful Fishing Clinic. If you have not gone out and caught a few Pompano by now. Well I guess you don't know how to fish.

Please Do Not Litter

Our story all started back in October of 2010.
Ted wanted a chinchilla, EVERYONE in 7th grade was getting one and he would do ANYTHING to have one of his own. He researched from were they come from, how to care for, what they eat and do not eat, and most importantly they have the softest fur of all animals in the world. He printed pictures of them and taped them up all over the house. He had names picked out and where and how much they cost. He had all his bases covered except he did not tell us the life expectancy of a chinchilla.
30 to 40 years.
I'm sorry but I do not have that much time in my life to dedicate to a small caged rodent that Ana and I will be taking care of.
Ted begged , pleaded, and swore we would never have to lift a finger for this new pet. I stood my ground as a mean and nasty Father and said NO.

Ana and Ted went to the local pet store to get some dog treats and to "look around". They came across a big open pit area were they had Dwarf Hamsters. The young man working there talked to wide eyed Ted and off balanced Ana that they were all males and they are clean, quiet, soft, and only live for 2 to 3 years.
SOOOOOOOOO Ana and Ted purchased a small cage, some food and 3 Dwarf Hamsters at $1.35 each.
What a deal, right?

About a week or so passed and I was starting to get used to the nasty smell and the nocturnal running in the squeaky wheel when a fight/quarrel/ruckus broke out. Peanut was fighting with Puablo and Puablo ended up with one and a half of his legs chewed off. It is a Saturday night, I have a stumpy and bloody $1.35 Dwarf Hamster in my hand and teary eyed Ted wants me to take it to the emergency Vet.
No No No No way.
I went online to do a little research and found that Dwarf Hamsters will get a "bad smell" from one another once in a while and will fight to the death. Nice.
We kept them separated and went down on Sunday and picked up a new cage and all the extras. Now we have 2 cages with wheels, food, and smells.
A few days pass and Ted is poking around cage #1 and says Dad look Peanut (the male) had babies. Six pink little babies. I was stunned, we now have 9 critters. We read on line we need to remove the male from the litter because they may harm the babies, and we don't want that do we?
Off to the pet store to get cage, wheel and everything else needed. Now we have 3 cages.

We watch as the 6 grow for about 5 or 6 days and one of the little ones is the runt. He always seems to be behind on the feedings and the cuddling and what not. Again Ted calls me over in the morning and says "Dad were missing one".
A little research and it comes to find out sometimes the Mother will eat the weakest one after a week or so. Nice.
Ana called the store to complain about males having babies and the Manager said, we will take the babies off your hands at 4 weeks and this is a once in a lifetime deal to "help us out"

Three more weeks pass and the little babies have fur on them and squeal and eat food on their own. Thank God it is time!! We load the 5 in a little box and take them to the pet store and the Manager takes them. All is well in the Hessing household again, except we still have 3 cages with 3 hamsters and one that is missing one and a half back legs. Pualblo is the lame one , but as the weeks went by his "stumps" healed and he ran around like a madman, actually running faster, and louder than the others. Go figure.
The next morning, I kid you not, Ted says "hey Dad, we have more babies" I laugh at Ted and tell him he is a funny guy as I look in the cage and yes we have 4 more.
After about a week Mamma Peanut eats a weak one and we are down to 3. We raised them for 4 more weeks and the pet store Manager says no to our breeding of Dwarf Hamsters. I tried to explain to the gentleman that we are not breeding them and we needed to rid ourselves of these damned rodents. He again declined but was kind enough to tell us that these cute little furry pets can start breeding themselves in about 3 weeks and we should separate them in cages to prevent more litters.
Oh My God is all I could say.
We left with 3 more cages, wheels and what not.
Now we have 6 cages with 6 Dwarf hamsters smelling, and running in those damn squeaky wheels all night long. I hope you didn't forget they ARE nocturnal. Also it has been about 2 and a half months and Ted isn't so keen on feeding and cleaning them as he was in week one. In fact Ana and I are taking care of our "grandkids" all the time now.
We did find a few homes for some of them so at this time we are down to 3. Peanut the male that gives birth, Baby one from litter number 2, and Puablo the 2 and half leg marathon runner.
The moral of this true, sad, and hard to digest story is if and when our children ask for a small caged animal, give them a stuffed toy and just say NO!

Thanksgiving week always have been a fun week for us. This year being no different.
We had the privilege to install a new system and ductwork for Peter and Simone. The job came out fabulous as usual, but the twist was they fed us. They fed us like kings too. Top of the line homemade chili on day one, it was dynamite, subs on day two and fried chicken with potato salad on day three. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Nothing makes us go the extra mile like filling our belly's.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and save just enough room for a slice of pie.

Settle Down Easy

These pictures are from the Sunday afternoon/evening show.

It was very nice to stay at one venue for three nights and not drive a couple hundred miles, packing, un-packing, hotel jumping headache.

Found our route and a few good places to eat. I do love me some blackened fish tacos. Good stuff there.
We had warm (84-87) daytime temps and cool (52-56) evenings with a 10 MPH breeze. Low to no humidity, I don't think we could have even asked for any better weather.
We didn't even sweat once for the entire week, not bad for a couple of Florida folks.

There was an artist who painted and danced up a storm each and every night, always a different location, but always drew a crowd around him. He was a bono-fide character.
Sundays picture was Jerry playing a guitar and fading away into some clouds.
Fun times indeed.

WOW second set was totally off the hook. Space was the only one played the entire tour and it was very very sweet.
This was by far the best set of the six we saw.
left us all singing, whistling, looking and wanting more.

All in all Ana and I had a wonderful and relaxing time.
They played a total of 110 songs with 96 different ones. That is a lot of music to know and to play.
I think the only logical thing to do is look for New Years run in San Fran.

I-70 What A Ride

Thursday was an off day. It was 750 miles from Las Vegas to Denver, we took our time driving through Utah and into Colorado. Ana was very impressed with this area of our country, she has never been out west.

We actually hit the area during a cool front. Usually the temps are in 100 to 110 this time of the year, but the highest temps we felt was 85 with very low humidity.
The entire time we were out west we did not sweat a single time.
Good stuff.

Stopped and got a very good hotel room in Eagle Colorado. About 150 miles short of Denver, it is in the Rockies. The aspen trees were in full bloom and some of the mountainsides were all yellow. Very nice, an extra bonus for our trip.

After a good nights rest we drove into Denver and got our hotel room. We were very excited to get a glimpse of and see a show at the world famous Red Rocks Theater.
We decided to see this show from the very back and get the full view of Denver skyline, all the outer towns, and the day after harvest moon rise over the stage.
I took my spot on a wall with a rail to hold onto and I stood 7 feet above the crowd.
My own personal space.

Full House In Vegas

Hard Rock is the place they film Rehab the TV show.
The pool totals 3 miles in length, kinda cold a shock to me, but the spa was good.
Totally cool set up, and believe me when I say a bunch of my fellow deadheads needed to clean themselves and pick up some sun. The pool was a nice bonus.

Everyone stayed here the fans, and the band, We ate breakfast at Mr. Lucky's in the casino and the band members came and left throughout our stay.
ATM's in Vegas only deal in 100's not 20's.
I said something to a cashier and she told me nothing in Vegas is worth less than $100.00
I guess I'm just cheap.

Hollywood Blvd, there are a whole bunch of odd people. I mean a lot. This is coming from ME!
To stick out in LA you really have to stick out.
These girls were walking up and down the street posing with people for a snapshot and a tip.
Ana stopped to take a photo, they spotted her and in unison held up there hands and said very loud "There ain't no free shows in LA, Girlie"
We walked on and reviewed the picture and thought about what they said, and you know what?
There IS a free show and they WERE it.

We ate lunch at the famous Pink's Hot Dogs.
I got the David Hasslehoff (Dog, pastrami, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and mustard)
I also got the Steve Gormet (Coleslaw and tomatoes)

Ana got the spicy sausage and a sour cream with onions.
They were all very good. They even have a free valet there?!?

We also visited the Le Brea Tar Pits.
Its hard to get comfortable in a city that is oozing tar all the time.

Santa Barbara

I do not like flying.
It is a great way to get out west in six hours, but I still don't like it.

Flew into Los Angeles and rented a car, they gave us a convertible Mustang but after sitting in it for 30 seconds I said no way.
We ended up with a Ford Explorer with navigation (Betsy)
Betsy got us there and back like no other. Before we travel again I will seriously consider buying on of these devices, You NEVER get lost.
We hot-footed it to Santa Barbara because the show time was 6PM.

Nice 70 mile drive down the PCH. California is so laid back. Instead of STOP painted at stop signs and traffic lights it says WAIT HERE.

Took my youngest son Ted to his first NFL game.

Been a VERY long time for posting anything.
The temps have been very hot combined with thousands of dollars of rebates for new air conditioning systems and that means little time for computer work.

This year we have a very good group of kids.

I found a very nice 6 foot by 10 foot utility trailer for work.
It is going to make change-outs so much easier.

Some people try to install a system, but most of the time they just throw it on the "big enough" slab and stretch the wire.
Its all good, isn't it?

Couple of bags of concrete, 12 inches off of the house (code) and a new electric wire.
Now were starting to look professional.

This air handler is magically hanging off the wall or that's a little more like off of a closet.
Hope the plumber does not need to get to the hot water tank.

Lets hang her with some all thread and now we can get in the closet.

A Stroll To Jacksonville

I get a bunch of comments from people in my field telling me how much they like the pictures of hacky work. (Is hacky a word?)
Who says we can't get the duct to fit.

This is a picture of fun in the sun. We love to go camping on or around the beach on spring break. I think we have camped 10 of the last 12 years for this fantastic time of the year. This year we are going to new and exciting area in Jacksonville. It is the northern most part of Florida. Across the inlet will be Georgia. We are bringing one of the boys friends with us Anthony. He has never camped before, we hope he has a good time.
We will be gone from Easter Sunday to Friday the 9th.
Pass the sunscreen were hanging.

First off you have to balance and maneuver around the supply duct to even attempt to open the unit. If there is ever a problem with or if you need to access the coil or drain pan the truss is in the way,
The sad thing is they could have moved the unit 2 feet to the left and it would have had all the room you would need. That would have probably taken some effort.

Momma and I have a few shillings tucked away for 1st day mail order.
The word has gotten out and Furthur seems to be the hottest tickets now.
They can't leave a couple of ole heads out in the cold. Can they?

Looking forward to a week long camping trip on the beach in Jacksonville. Fort Clinch State Park. Have to enjoy a little life before the kids move on. We sure aren't getting any younger I'll tell you.

Computer Crash

Last week our computer crashed, and it crashed hard.
Chris at CSI Computers got right in there and took care of business.
Any computer problems he comes highly recommended.
The good part about all of this is he found 100's of pictures we thought we "lost"

I decided to show a bunch of Charlie shots.
If you know me you know I have a love-hate relationship with him.
This is one of the BOLDER times with him.

Here is Charlie in his normal position.
Sleeping.
Charlie always likes it when someone is not feeling well. It is an excuse to lay with someone all day and sleep.
He is good for 20 hours a day to rest. and he is in his prime. I'm afraid of what will happen when he gets in his golden years.

Slight rain but a terrific night to be outside enjoying the music I love in February as friends of mine are in FEET of snow.
Pictures are fair to good, I think I will get better ones tonight in Orlando.

Phil said it has been way too long since the last time they have been to south Florida and they need to change that!

Show was FULL of energy and it started fast and only picked up steam.
Great to see a bunch of old friends and meet a few new ones.
We were in the 3rd row and it was fantastic to see Mike and Ellen right behind us.
Brings back some excellent Miami memories.

Big Day in Salerno

It just ain't a party till the pirates show up.

This is the fourth annual Port Salerno Seafood Festival.
Each year it gets bigger and bigger in size and crowds.
I look forward to it every year because I hand out 2000 stickers in about an hour or so.
The phone will ring off of the hook for the next 2 weeks.
I love it.

What I like about our festival is it is only a bike ride from my house, and I get to see a ton of friends and customers.
The best part of all is the FOOD.

I have so many we can look at.

We ended up with 2 inches of snow in three rivers New Mexico.
Only 2 camp sites in the whole place, amazing amount of coyote at night.

Sunrise in central Texas. Notice all the ducks? They will wake you up like a rooster.

This is the moon set at the same time as the sunrise.
Texas is not afraid of using windmills for power, and they are not ugly at all.

Ted and Dad doing what we do the best, acting foolish.
This is the place Ted was attacked by a mule, or an ass if you must.

We all slid a few times, some better than others.

Im still waiting for Sam to transfer photos for me.
It should be finished by tonight and I will get vacation shots out soon.
Texas has some very looooong susnsets. They can last up to an hour to hour and fifteen mins. That is a long and very often beautiful sunset and sunrise.
I took alot of these pictures.
This is a snapshot of a Florida sunset, this was taken today 1-7-10.
Ours may not last an hour or more, but they are just as beautiful.

We got to New Orleans OK and avoided some of the rains. Saw some very colorfull people and places. The food is incredebly addictive,
Drove west of Houston and stayed at a state park of old pecan trees and it was littered with deer.
We drove south west of San Antonio to a Mexican American border town called Del Rio and we are at a state park about 1500 ft.
The views east are flat and expansive and the views west are of the Big Bend mountains.
The sunset was very cool.

Most people love the FREE calanders

Here is the 2009 calender crew for Rocky Point.
10 young men, 1680 calenders, 9 pizzas, 3 cases of soda and Gatorade, and 5 hours.
Another year of calenders.
This year we had 6 or 7 people curse and yell at us.
I don't understand that.
Thank You Boys you did a great job.

We are going on a nice 23 day vacation.
Here is one of the "campgrounds" we are interested in.
The Rio Grande is in the background.
This site is about 45 miles from any town.

There is a whole bunch of different animals in the southwest desert.
This is a Javelina.
They look like they need a good scratching.
There is also alot of coyote and about 30 kinds of lizards and geckos.

This is Chisos Mountain.
The average elevation is around 2500 feet with some mountains and peaks as high as 5500 feet.
The day time highs are around 60 to 70, not too bad at all for the dead of winter, but because it is the desert and at such high altitudes the lows are 10 to 20 at night.
That's a little cold for this Florida boy, but we have a big heater.

The sunsets are big and long. They are even longer than a Florida sunset if you can believe that.
My family has not been west of the Mississippi. They are in for a real treat.
We are going to go all the way to Arizona, but I have my heart set for Texas.

Grateful A/C will be open for full business. We will have three qualified techs on hand.
Any problems?

Where Have I Been?

Believe your eyes or not, but I think I see a skateboarding peanut.

Where have we been? We have been all over and back.
Football season is coming to an end now. Our season went 4 and 4 we just missed the playoffs but most of the kids and coaches were satisfied with the results.
We are going to play a bowl game on November 14th in Royal Palm Beach.

Looks like the lone peanut skating off into the sunset.

Planning our yearly trip. We want to go to west Texas and east New Mexico.
Carlsbad Caverns, Guataloupe Mountains, White Sands, and BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK.
Why did I capatalize Big Bend?
That place is the bomb. It has everything we want and are looking for. If any of you have time, check out the web on this place.

Air Conditioning 101:
Plunum is the air box that comes off the end of an air handler or furnace.
The plunum should be 3 to 4 feet long.
As you can see someone missed that memo.

Work has been solid and steady, Hot October and starting as just as hot of a November.
Remember the $1500. Tax Credit is still in effect and the best time of the year to take advantage of it.

It's been a long time

It has been some time from my last report.
Things have been very very busy.
So here goes.
I have had a few comments from people that they noticed me at the tattoo studio a few times in the last two weeks.
Mike colored an octopus on my shoulder and that came out real cool.
More importantly is my nephew Joseph, who is almost 19, now wanted to get his first tattoo. Who else to call than Uncle Tim, I set him up with Mike and he got a real cool piece. Kinda big and in a very tender spot for your first one.
No one ever accused a Hessing for not having balls.
He will get the Queen card and color in about 2 weeks.

Here is one of the main reasons I have been a little tight on time.
POP WARNER FOOTBALL
I love it, our first game was Saturday and Jr. Midget got a win!!
This is Teds first win in 35 months!!
It is a great group, It keeps the kids and some of us coaches off of the streets, and some days that is a good thing.
I will keep you up to date during the year on our progress.

Last but no least is school and band.
Sam started high school this year and he has to wake up at 5:30 and be out the door by 6 am. That is way early.
I do have to say Sam has done a very fine job of doing all this in a very timely and quiet manner.
Sam is also in the marching band at Southfork.
After school practice.
Friday night games.
He IS a busy dude.
I will try, and try is a very key word, to keep up on our lives a little more and often.
By the way this is Grateful A/C blog so I should mention that work is cool and even with all this stuff on our plate, we still tend to ALL our customers needs.

Ted is always ready to ham it up for the cameras. Here is our site at Anastasia State Park. We have stayed here a few times in the last 10 years or so. Always a blast with this weekend not being any different. The trees over by the beach are dwarf like banzi like wind swept. They are very cool, and the kids always like to climb them. We also rode bicycles on the beach trying to chase down the seagulls. No luck.
This is a very nice 3900 person venue. It is a 10 min. walk from our campsite and is a new place. Hopefully we can see a show here again.
Sam say's he did not like the show, but he was checking out alot of people and situations. He also had a real good time with a box of snap-n-pops.
Ted said he wants to go on tour for a couple of years.

The kids were playing "throw the plastic bags into the return air game"

I spotted some water stains on my ceiling about a year and a half ago. They seem to be getting worse in the last 3 or 4 months. Then I thought I would call you on this Sunday night to look at this emergency water problem.

I looked at my air handler in the front lawn and I think we could have painted up or taped up those little rust holes. I think you replaced the unit a little prematurely. It was only 28 years old.

July 19th (next Sunday) our family, including both kids, are going to see Bob Wier and Ratdog in St. Augustine.
Looking forward to 3 days off of work and camping on the beach.
First time the whole family will be in the pit of big show. Great seats.
Ted is very excited.
Sam is you know Sam. He would rather have his liver cut out.
Hope they play some songs my kids will know. (After all these years I do believe they know them all.)
I'm hopping for a The Music Never Stopped.
We WILL have photos.

Teenage summer jobs.

My boys got a couple of summer jobs.
I remember my summer jobs, some of the most interesting and fun jobs went down in the summer.
I was serious enough to go every day but yet loose enough to not care.
Above is a picture of a new tattoo shop opening up just outside of Rocky Point.
The name of the shop is Tiger Shark Tatoos. A catchy name for Port Salerno.
The owners name is Mike Ridge AKA Fish.
If anyone wants bright colors and fine lines he is defenatly the man to see.

My oldest son Sam is 14 and hooked up with Mike for an apprentship.
For a 14 year old this does sound like a totally cool job, and in a few years he can be tatooing someone or something, not a bad trade to know when rolling off to college.

Ted my youngest son at 11 is a junor counsoler with Ohana Surf Shop.
Ohana is a very cool and layed back shop.
The owners are Jordon and Tara Schwartz and both are overflowing with possotive vibes and good Karma.
Ted helps the kids 5 days a week from 9-1 at surf camp.
He helps with the wave take off, skim boarding, hummping stuff up and down the beach and bunch of other stuff.
Cool stuff.
Fun stuff.
He is a very happy camper.

......We'd blister in the sun,
we couldn't wait for night to come.
To hit that sand and play some rock-n-roll......

Isn't she adorable? She will be a heart breaker soon enough.
She belongs to friends of ours.
Today is Mothers Day, I hope all the mothers out there had a good day.
My Mom died a few years ago and I miss her so.

Sam, Ted and I did nice things for Ana today.
First off we gave her Killians chocolate.
Soon after she received 3 new orchids and a handmade card promising we would be on our best behavior.
Finally for dinner we had crab stuffed shrimp, blackened Maui Maui (Dolphin), 2 Main lobster, and a huge fresh salad.
A feast to say the least.
Ted was very,very intrigued with the lobsters all afternoon, I think he even had a race with them on the kitchen counter.
A good day by all.

I did not want to mention it until it was final.
I woke up on February 22 and went to my usual pack of smokes on the porch and I said no.
I had no planning, no plotting, it just happened.
I started to smoke when I was 13 to be cool, you know the chicks will love it.
I was smoking a pack a day by 15.
I was up to 2 solid packs a day.
Lets figure this out, my rough calculations says I smoked 300,000 plus ciggerteets.
WOW.
I still have a few slight urges here and there, but they only last a short time.
Here is to a smokeless attmasphere (at least around me)

We are very busy, here and there and back again.
In a few short days the kids are on spring break.
Momma has the week off.
The only logical thing to do is go on VACATION.
Six nights on the beach to fish, surf, snorkle, crab and just in general not give a .....

Why fix a leaking drain line, even after the ceiling has come down 3 times in the last year, when you can just leave a note?

Sorry for the fuzzy picture.
Why clean a unit when a customer has been complaining of musty, and moldy smells for 2 years?
I got it lets sell them a UV light for a $1000.

Why strap up ductwork and keep them away from each other to prevent moisture and mold from accumulating?
No big deal we'll do it next time.
